The Shirakawa Green Corridor

Come to Fully Enjoy the Scenery of Water and Greenery—So Representative of Kumamoto as the City of the Forest!

〜The Shirakawa Green Corridor〜

The Shirakawa "Green Corridor" that runs through the heart of Kumamoto City was completed in April 2015. It was a project that moved forward through the mutual exchange of ideas with local citizens.

When events are held, the area close to the river bustles with activities where people can become more familiar with the river, such as open cafes and night markets.

Also, visitors who stroll along the walking path can feel closer to the scenery with structures, water and greenery, such as the masonry bank protection that has been newly constructed, as well as the transplanted trees. Why not go for a walk here, and look for a heart stone embedded in the masonry bank protection?
