Redevelopment of Amagase Dam in progress

Aqueduct Tunnel Construction Work—Feel the Power! Hurry, You Can Only See It Now!

〜Redevelopment of Amagase Dam in progress〜

At the Amagase Dam, on the only river that flows out of Lake Biwa, we are constructing a tunnel discharge facility in order to increase the discharge capacity of the existing dam. Increasing the discharge capacity will enable the dam reservoir to be operated more efficiently, boost flood control performance, and increase the supply of tap water and water for power generation.
During this tour, visitors learn about the role of the Amagase Dam and the effects of the redevelopment project, and are guided around the sites of construction of the tunnel discharge facility. Visitors can directly experience the power involved in creating a large cross-section tunnel, the feeling of being below the dam lake at a depth of forty meters, and the sheer magnificence of the machines being used in the tight underground spaces. Come now, and experience the power – you can only do it now!

  • We hold tours for groups of ten or more at any time
  • We will hold the tour at your desired time and using your desired route
  • Approximately 3000 people visited the site in FY2016
