Policy for Future Construction of the Kansai Science City (Report)
- Second Stage Plan -

Text (6. Conclusion)

6. Conclusion

The above has provided a summary of this report to build the concept of construction of a "New Cultural Capital" and its realization in addition to accommodation of important current issues that have confronted us in recent years based on the lofty ideal of dealing with the human issues encountered by this science city at the onset of its beginning.

If this city is to flourish as the source of culture and civilization suitable for allowing human beings to survive in the new coming era, it will have to contribute to the peace and prosperity of not only people of the Kansai region and Japan, but people throughout the world, and lead to Japan gaining the respect of countries across the globe.

The realization of this objective in the Kansai region, where Japan came into existence as a cultural nation having its own unique culture, is also extremely significant in terms of verifying the universality of Japanese culture in the world.

However, because this ideal is so high, global and humanistic, many difficulties are anticipated during the course of its realization. Although it therefore goes without saying that cooperation among the industrial, academic and government sectors will become increasing important, in consideration of the intention of the construction of this city coming from a background proposed by the private sector, what will be more important than anything else is the generation of enthusiasm among citizens over its construction. In order to accomplish this, it will first be necessary to implement efforts and contrivances so as to obtain the understanding of citizens and the broad-based support of the Japanese people as a whole with respect to the global significance of the construction of this new cultural capital.

It will be important to realize a consistent and unswerving sense of purpose along with passionate ideals. We sincerely hope that all persons concerned will further be aroused to action.
