A Study on Indicator of Accessibility in Regional Transportation (Report No.107)

Summary

Transportation is essential to the movement for people, and it is the foundation of various activities in daily life. In particular, for the people who is not available of using cars, the movement to various bases, such as medical care, shopping, and the administration services, in the everyday life, public transport is an essential means.
On the other hand, by the decrease of the users caused by factors such as the progress of otorization, depopulation, aging and declining populations, there are situations such as the abolition of public transport routes and reduction in the number of runs. Therefore the circumstances surrounding the public transport are becoming more severe.
Therefore, in order to promote the activation of regional transportation in particular, efforts have been promoted and supported by national and local governments, as well as ingenuity by transport operators. However, in these efforts, individual case factors are rather strong. As for assessment measures and measures deployed nationwide, there are needs for indicators and evaluation methods that can be compared, in a unified overview of the status of local public transportation in Japan.
For more information about creating an accessibility indicators to the destination from the place of departure, perform the activities required for daily living care, shopping, and government, of the people, we have studied while utilizing available information at the same level as in the nation. We have been working on for carrying out the proposed analysis method that utilizes the accessibility indicators.
