(Sightseeing Facilities)

　 　 In view of the insufficient sightseeing facilities against the conspicuous rise in Japanese recreation activities, the Ministry of Transport is promoting such development projects as for the sightseeing recreation district incorporating diverse facilities like green landscape for picnic, ski resorts, etc., and the village for travelling youth, which includes healthy and cheep facilities like camp sites surrounded by mother nature and a promenade to promote young people's healthy travels at the same time contributing to business Promotion in the people-scarce locality.
Observing the status of the lodging facilities as of the end of 1974, there are 1,029 hotels and 82,609 Japanese style hotels all licenced under the law governing hotel business. Compared to the preceding year, the number of hotels rose by 26% while that of Japanese-style hotels maintained the same level. The number of guest rooms of hotels and Japanese-style hotels is shown in (Table 4-(1)-3).
