Section 1. Passenger Transport


    The number of incoming foreign passengers increased by 6.3% over the preceding year, reflecting the Okinawa Oceanic Exposition etc. Sight-seeing passengers which are most of incoming foreign Passengers accounted for conspicuous increase. The number of Japanese oversea traveler was 2.47 million, showing 5.6% increase over the preceding year.
    The transport share of the Japanese international air lines improved to 32.4%, noting an increase of 1.2 points over the preceding fiscal year, because of the opening of the direct Pacific Ocean route, the introduction of large planes and the reopening of Japan-Formosa route (Table 1-2-1).
