CONSTRUCTION OF SUBWAY LlNE N0.11 (SUITENGU-OSHIAGE) BY TEITO RAPID TRANSIT AUTHORITY APPROVED (23 June 1993)

@ @ On 23 June 1993, the Ministry of Transport issued approval to the Teito Rapid Transit Authority to start construction of an extention of subway line N0.11 (Suitengu-Oshiage).
@ @ The Eastern part of the Metropolitan area has become the most congested area in Japan in recent years, to such an extent that some railway lines recorded a congestion ratio of more than 250%. This has been caused by the delays in railway development even though the population in the area had increased dramatically. As the flow of passenger traffic is expected to shift due to the extention of subway line N0.11 to Oshiage, which will connect to the Isezaki line of Tobu Railway. By the mutual use of tracks, the congestion in Kitasenju station, which is the major transfering station of the area for the JR Joban line as well as the Chiyoda Subway line should be allevicated.
