REPORTS ON "MEASURES FOR RAISlNG COMPETITIVENESS OF JAPANESE AIR CARRIERS" AND ON "IDEAL AVIATION SECURITY SYSTEM FOR THE NEXT GENERATION" SUBMITTED BY THE COUNCIL FOR CIVIL AVIATION (June 13, 1994)


@ @ On June 13, 1994, the Council for Civil Aviation submitted a report on the measures for raising competitiveness of Japanese air carriers and a report on the ideal aviation security system for the next generation. The first report pointed out the necessity of raising competitiveness of Japanese air carriers which are faced with serious financial difficulties due to changes in the managerial environment both in Japan and abroad. Then, the report showed various measures for reducing costs and increasing earning power. Government offices were also asked to provide proper environment through reviewing regulations. The second report stated that an aviation security system utilizing new technology, such as man-made satellites and data communication, would be indispensable to the next generation.
@ @ The Ministry of Transport will take various measures to carry out the proposals made by the report, respecting them in full.
