Efforts are being made so that handicapped people and the aged can use
public transportation smoothly. To promote the introduction and development
of facilities designed for such people, the Ministry of Transport gives financial
support and provides guidance for proprietors concerned based on various guidelines.
The Ministry of Transport also gave the opportunities for quasi-experiences
of the aged people to people having the transport-related jobs.
The Ministry also encourages off-peak commuting and Transporta-tion Demand
Management (TDM) to ease traffic congestion (Fig.
26).
