In accordance with the reports by the Council for Transport Technology as regards the direction of the development of overall transport technology, the Ministry is promoting technological development for the Linear Motor Car, Techno Superliner, Ultra-large Floating Offshore Structure (Mega-Float) and Advanced Safety Vehicle (ASV). The Ministry strengthened the system for technological development by establishing the "Technology Research and Development Promotion Committee". The Deputy Vice-Minister for Technical Affairs took the post of its director.
