The Ministry is engaged in efforts to : introduce the EDI (electronic data interchange) into the transport sector ; to research and develop versatile electronic tickets with the use of contactless IC card ; and to improve the weather forecasts with a view of improving the convenience of consumers and the safety and raising the operational efficiency of transport-related businesses. In addition, the Ministry is also developing Ministry of Transport Wide Area Information Network System (MOT winks) so as to promote computerization of the transport administration.
