In efforts to meet the growing demand for air transportation, the Ministry
of Trans-port has been stepping up the development of base airports as its top
priority under the Seventh Seven-Year Airport Development Program. It is also
developing other airports and aviation safety facilities (Figures
60, Figures 61 and Figures
62).
In order to further improve convenience for aviation users, the Ministry is embarking on various deregulation measures and creating rules for fair market competition.
While trying to expand international and domestic aviation networks, the Ministry is also considering measures to secure air services for remote islands. As for aviation safety regulations, the Ministry will take appropriate measures based on recommendations by the Council for Civil Aviation
