Activities for International Standardization

Promotion of ITS through international cooperation

Active commitment to world conferences

Japan is promoting international cooperation through efforts such as participating in ITS World Congress.
Since the first meeting in 1994 in Paris, ITS World Congress has been annually held in order to exchange information on worldwide ITS-related studies and to promote international cooperation for ITS deployment: the 9th World Congress has been held in 2002 in Chicago, America. Japan has been participating since the 1st Congress, and has delivered lectures and presentations and has been actively exchanging ideas with other countries.
With respect to international standardization, Japan has been actively participating in the plenary sessions of ISO/TC 204 as a voting P member.
Japan is also actively providing proposals to the Radiocommunication Sector of ITU (International Telecommunication Union).
