Inui Turret

In old Japan, the points of the compass were sometimes expressed using the 12 animals from the Chinese zodiac. The name of this turret consists of the Chinese characters for “dog” and “wild boar,” indicating that it stands in the northwest corner of the Nishidemaru, which is the northwestern part of the inner compound (honmaru). This is a replica dating from 2003. The wall to the south is also a reconstruction, as the original wall was dismantled by the imperial army during its occupation of the castle from 1874 to 1945. In the 2016 earthquake, the stone wall beneath the turret collapsed, leaving it balancing precariously on the corner stones.

戌亥櫓

昔の日本では、方位を十二支の動物で表すことがありました。この櫓の名前は「戌（犬）」と「亥（猪）」の漢字からなり、本丸北西部にある西出丸の「北西」の隅に位置していることを示しています。櫓は2003年に復元されたものです。南側の石垣も同様に、1874年から1945年まで帝国陸軍が城を占領していた際に取り壊された元の石垣を復元したものです。2016年の地震では、櫓の下の石垣が崩壊し、角石の上で辛うじてバランスを保っている状態です。

戌亥橹

过去，日本有时会用起源于中国的十二生肖来表示方位。这座“戌亥橹”塔楼的名称由“戌”（狗）和“亥”（野猪）组成，表明它位于“西出丸”的西北角，而西出丸则位于“本丸”^※西北部。

塔楼于2003年完成重建，其南侧的石垣（石墙）亦为重建，原墙在1874年至1945年帝国陆军使用城堡时被拆除。在2016年的地震中，塔楼下方的石垣倒塌，只剩下塔楼留在角石上勉强保持平衡。

※“丸”是指城堡内的防御空间。城堡从内至外通常有“本丸”、“二之丸”、“三之丸”等，其中“本丸”是城堡中最重要的区域，多为天守和城主的住所。
