Support to prevent and reduce typhoon damage

Background and purpose

Countries in Asia and the Pacific area ithe northwest Pacific and the South China Seaj suffer serious damage by frequent typhoons. the Japan Meteorological Office provides a typhoon warning to countries in Asia-Pacific region to avoid and minimize the damage. However, countries in the region don't have the skills to use the information to make weather forecasts and broadcast an alarm. The support project is to train the representatives of typhoon prediction in the Asia-Pacific region and assist with technical support to prevent and reduce the typhoon damage by responding to the meteorological conditions in each country.

Business Summary

This project is to invite the representatives of typhoon prediction to Japan from developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

  • Grasp the factual report about the problems of monitoring and typhoon forecasting in nations of the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Lecture about typhoon analysis/prediction and provide technical assistance
  • Grasp the usage of typhoon information in Kagoshima (typhoon-prone area)
  • Exchange opinions about monitoring/forecasting typhoons and information providing services
