1. Harbor Transport


@ @ The harbortransport volume for 1973 is as shown in Table II - (lIl) - 2 Against the 15.8% increase over the preceding year in the loading and unloading volume within ships which is the core of harbor-transport, the transport volume by barges remained at 2.8% increase. This is because the cargo-working form centered around conventional barges has structurally changed due to mass commissioning into service of highly rationalized vessels such as container ships and tankers, increase of cargo-working via quays by progress of harbor improvement, etc., despite the fact that there was quite an increase in the imported cargo volume.
