@ @Foreign visitors entering the country in 1976 increased sharply, by 12.7% over the previous year. Japanese travellers going overseas numbered 2,850,000, an increase of 15.7% over the previous year (Table 1-3-2). The number of persons who left or entered the country by air was up 14.8% over the previous fiscal year, totaling 9,120,000 persons. Of this number, the rate of loading by Japanese aviation enterprises rose 2.5 points over the previous fiscal year, accounting for 34.9% of the total. This increase was partly attributable to the opening of a new route to Korea and the extension of a route beyond Taipei.
