IMPORT PROMOTION PROGRAMME IN LOCAL AREAS BASED ON THE IMPORT PROMOTION/DOMESTIC INVESTMENT LAW (24 Mar. 1993)

@ @ In recent years of a growing tendency towards protectionism and creating regional bloc economy, the Japanese Government is requested to attain its economic growth in harmony with the global economy by promoting imports. For this purpose the "Import Promotion / Domestic Investment Law" was promulgated in July 1992. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry approved programmes developed by Osaka Pref., Osaka City, Kobe City, Ehime Pref., Kitakyushu City and Nagasaki Pref. to promote imports in local areas under the Import Promotion Law.
@ @ It is hoped that the development of physical distribution facilities in the Free Access Zones (FAZ) which were established based upon the approved programmes will assure smooth distribution of imported cargoes and contribute to import promotion.
