Techno Super Liner "Hisho" Won the Ship of the Year '95 Prize (May 15, 1996)

The experimental vessel "Hisho" of super-high-speed (cargo) ship Techno Super Liner (TSL) received the "Ship of the Year '95" prize.
This prize has been established by the Japan Shipbuilding Academy to promote the building of vessels and ocean structures which are prominent in terms of technology and artistry, thus aiming at the wide diffusion of maritime ideas to the general public and only one vessel was selected every year.
The prize was awarded to "Hisho" because it made a success in high speed transport with containers loaded at its experimental voyage in fiscal 1995, which showed the feasibility of building future high-speed marine transport system. It visited many ports and was opened to the general public, which aroused a great deal of interest as it was covered by the media on an extensive scale. This was highly appreciated as having contributed to presenting a future dream for shipbuilding, marine transport and ports as well as diffusing shipbuilding and maritime ideas.
The research and development of TSL was conducted since fiscal 1989. This seven-year research and development has been finished successfully by technologically verifying the establishment of sailing technology for TSL and high speed marine transport system by general test using "Hisho". As a result, it has become possible to construct TSL for practical use with various specifrcations and capacrtres.(Picture)
