The Nanao Port is situated near the center of Ishikawa Prefecture's Noto Peninsula at latitude 37º 0' 30" N and longitude 136º 58' 0" E. The natural harbor's scenic beauty remains even in winter because it is protected from the roaring waves of the Sea of Japan by Notojima and the Sakiyama Peninsula.
The Nanao Port, in accordance with the Ports and Harbors Act, comprises the waters bordered by an imaginary line stretched 335º from the Kannonzaki Lighthouse to 198º 30' 640 m from the Byobuzaki Triangulation Station and 150º 20' from there to the shore. Excluding the Mimuro fishing port area designated by the Fishing Port Act.
