Snow Magic 19 (+ Fukushima 19)

Snow sports such as skiing and snowboarding are not as popular with the old as they are with the young. Therefore, the industry and the local community face the same challenge of attracting more young people and beginners, as well as of motivating them to continue enjoying the sport as they grow older.
Snow Magic 19 was begun as a public-private campaign with local communities and private businesses, and cooperated with Japan Research Center in order to attract more young people to ski resorts and stimulate the snow sports industry.  (JTA participates in the campaign as a sponsor, and supports it through coordination works, advices, and promotion activities.)
The campaign cooperated with 93 ski resorts all over Japan to provide free lift tickets for young skiers who are 19 years old in FY2011 (born from April 2, 1992 to April 1, 1993). 19-year-olds were found to be the most important segment in the skiing industry, and this motivates them to visit ski resorts, attracts more customers, and stimulates the industry in the medium- to long-term.
(Fukushima 19: A campaign organized by the Ski Resort Fukushima Creation Conference in order to provide free lift tickets for 19-year-old skiers and welcome them with the warm hospitality of Fukushima cooperated with 20 ski resorts in the prefecture.)
