National Lifelong Learning Network Forum

  To organize a research conference in order to support recovery and reconstruction following the Great East Japan Earthquake, inviting the personnel of government agencies, NPOs, associations, business enterprises, and universities who have been working on building a society under the government-supported “New Public Commons.” To organize forums that contribute to the formation of a network between participants at four venues in Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, and Tokyo.

 Planning to implement from October to November 2012

International exchange programs utilizing youth education facilities

 To invite to Japan young people from overseas, especially from East Asian countries, so that they can better understand Japan  through  experiencing Japanese nature, sports, and culture. The program utilizes youth education facilities, takes advantage of the characteristics of each region, and cooperates with associated organizations. It also contributes to broadening the outlook of young Japanese young through cultural exchange, and to training them as next generation leaders of East Asia.
 note)As a contractor will be selected through public support, it will not necessarily be carried out in the Tohoku area.

”Newly Acquired Treasures of Japan” Exhibition of cultural properties recently purchased by the Agency for Cultural Affairs

  To organize an exhibition of newly purchased treasures by the Agency for Cultural Affairs as an opportunity for the public to appreciate these works. Venue in FY2012: Ibaraki Prefectural Museum of History

Period

 FY2012: August to September

MEXT supports six national youth education facilities established by the National Institute for Youth Education in order to implement the projects:

・National Iwatesan Youth Friendship Center(Takizawamura, Iwate-gun, Iwate)
・National Hanayama Youth Outdoor Learning Center(Kurihara City, Miyagi)
・National Bandai Youth Friendship Center(Inawashiro, Yama-gun, Fukushima)
・National Nasukashi Youth Outdoor Learning Center(Nishigomura, Nishi-shirakawa-gun, Fukushima)
・National Akagi Youth Friendship Center(Maebashi City, Gunma)
・National Myoko Youth Outdoor Learning Center(Myoko City, Niigata)

 National youth education facilities are utilized throughout the year by a large number of young people. They are surrounded by rich natural environments and boast fulfilling facilities such as playgrounds, gymnasiums, and training rooms. They can accommodate up to 400 persons.

Remark

 As these facilities accept reservations throughout the year, some may not be available depending on dates of the projects.
