（公会堂再開と昭和修理）
昭和32年(1957)、公会堂として再び市民が利用される場になりました。
昭和49年(1974)に国の重要文化財に指定され、昭和55年(1980)から約3年の大規模な保存修理を経て一般公開され、市内有数の観光名所となりました。

Reopening and restoration
In 1957, the Old Public Hall reopened for the use of Hakodate residents. In 1974, the central government designated it an Important Cultural Property. A large-scale restoration effort began in 1980 and continued for two years (Renovations in the Showa era (1980-1982)). Thereafter, the Old Public Hall became one of Hakodate’s leading tourist attractions.
