Mitsushima Islands

This series of three small, uninhabited outcroppings are one of the distinctive visual features of Toba Bay. A statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, has been erected between two of the islands, and is visible from the ferry. Kannon has long been venerated locally as a guardian of maritime safety, and the statue serves as a spiritual protector of the harbor.
