姫の浜

伝承によると、二千年以上前、皇女倭姫命は伊勢神宮を創建した後に坂手島を訪れました。姫の浜は彼女が気に入った場所のひとつだったとされており、姫の浜の海から集められた魚介類は、昔から伊勢神宮に捧げる供物として使われてきました。浜は、旧坂手小学校のすぐそばにあります。小学校の運動場だった場所は現在、海と村の美しい景色を眼下に望む展望スポットになっています。


Hime-no-hama Beach

Legend has it that Princess Yamatohime-no-Mikoto visited Sakatejima after establishing Ise Jingu Grand Shrine more than 2,000 years ago. As Hime-no-hama beach is believed to have been one of her favorite spots, seafood gathered from its waters has long been prepared for the shrine as a religious offering. The beach is located down the steps from the former Sakate Elementary School. The school’s old athletic field now provides an overlook with beautiful views of the sea and village below.
