Tagajo Iris Festival

The Tagajo Iris Festival, which has taken place for over 30 years, features 3 million Japanese irises of around 800 different varieties rising out of former rice fields. The purple flowers usually bloom from mid- to late June, and during this period, performances and evening illuminations celebrate their brief season.

The iris fields are a 10-minute walk from Kokufu-Tagajo Station, and the remains of Tagajo Castle are a short walk from the flower fields.
