三陸復興国立公園 (1)
三陸復興国立公園は、太平洋沿岸の青森県八戸市から宮城県石巻市まで、約250kmにわたって南北に広がっています。この国立公園は、2011年3月11日に発生した東日本大震災からの復興を支援する取り組みの一環として、既存の3つの公園を合併する形で設立されました。国立公園北部は、海岸の段丘や連なる断崖絶壁が特徴（この地域は「海のアルプス」と呼ばれています）で、南部は入り組んだリアス海岸で知られています。南と北からやってくる海流と気候が合流し、多種多様な海洋生物と植物を育む環境がつくりだされます。また、地元で「やませ」と呼ばれる夏に吹く東風が涼しく湿った空気を運んでくるこの地域の気候は、高山植物に非常に適しています。
Sanriku Fukko National Park (1)
Sanriku Fukko (Reconstruction) National Park stretches about 250 kilometers north to south along the Pacific coast, from Hachinohe in Aomori Prefecture to Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture. The park was created by merging three existing parks as part of efforts to help the region recover after the devastating Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011. The northern section of the park is noted for coastal terraces and towering cliffs—the nickname of the area is “Alps of the Sea”—while the southern section is known for its convoluted ria coast. The convergence of ocean currents and weather patterns from the north and south has created an environment that supports a wide variety of marine and plant life. The easterly summer winds locally known as yamase bring cool, moist air to the region, making the climate ideal for alpine plants.
