綾里崎
碁石海岸のすぐ北東の水平線上に浮かぶ綾里崎は、白い花崗岩でできた険しい崖のシルエットが特徴です。高さ100メートルの岬の先端には灯台が建っています。このリアス海岸沿いには船に危険な岩礁について警告する灯台が数多くあり、この灯台もそのひとつです。半島の真ん中には気象庁が運営する日本で最初につくられた大気環境観測所があり、ここでは1970年から地球の気候変動の原因となる温室効果ガスの濃度を測定しています。

Cape Ryorizaki
Cape Ryorizaki occupies the horizon just northeast of the Goishi Coast, marked by a silhouette of rugged white granite cliffs. A lighthouse stands at the tip of the cape at a height of 100 meters—one of many along this ria coast that warn ships of the dangerous reefs. The Japan Meteorological Agency operates the country’s oldest air quality observatory in the middle of the peninsula, where it has been measuring concentrations of greenhouse gases, a cause of global climate change, since 1970.
