Totsukawa Onsen
(看板)
Welcome to Iorinoyu, the public bathing facility of the village of Totsukawa Onsen. The hot springs here are said to have been discovered by a charcoal maker some three centuries ago. This bath belongs to one of three hot spring communities in Totsukawa that promise a rare and relaxing bathing experience. We are committed to using only free-flowing hot spring waters, something unheard of at most hot spring baths in Japan. We refrain from processes such as circulation, reuse, reheating, chlorination, or dilution, so that bathers can soak in water that is 100 percent natural, straight from the hot spring source. The baths here at Iorinoyu are prized for saline, sodium bicarbonate, and chloride-rich waters that maintain a high temperature. These mineral-infused waters not only provide a soothing bath but are also suitable for drinking in small amounts.
