Minister's Message

Japanese Minister Tetsuo Saito

Japanese Minister Tetsuo Saito

Following the G7 Hiroshima Summit in May, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will host the G7 Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Ise-Shima, Mie from June 16 to 18.
Presently, the transport sectors of all G7 countries are faced with common social problems, such as climate change due to greenhouse gas emissions and acceleration of population aging.
To address these challenges, I would like to discuss at this Meeting How we can provide everyone with accessible and sustainable transportation through innovation, and to pledge cooperation with other G7 countries.
This Meeting is also an opportunity to introduce the charms of Japan, particularly, Mie and Ise-Shima to the world.

Located right in the heart of Japan, Mie Prefecture boasts many beautiful natural features and popular destinations.
Together with the people in Ise-Shima, we will let the world know the charms of Ise-Shima, which has been called “umashi-kuni (beautiful land),”
with the aim of increasing inbound demand, which has weakened during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will make every effort toward the success of the Meeting.
I hope you could give your attention to the meeting. Thank you.
