The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has conducted a survey of 6,000 construction companies in Japan concerning the actual status of paid and received moneys for subcontracts with the goals of understanding the actual status of paid and received moneys for subcontracts and use of this information to establish proper master contractor - subcontractor relations. It also conducted a survey of 1,200 subcontractors who are making transactions with businesses that were the subjects of that survey concerning the actual status of paid and received moneys for subcontracts and has published the results.
Furthermore, based on the results of these surveys, the Ministry is actively promoting proper master contractor - subcontractor relations by conducting on-the-spot investigations of construction businesses where improvements are considered necessary and by introducing improvements as necessary.
