Sharp-eyed visitors to the region’s rivers can look forward to spotting all sorts of creatures, including damselflies, Japanese fireflies, Tohoku salamanders, and Japanese mitten crabs as well as sweetfish (ayu), salmon, chum salmon, ice goby, yellowfin goby, Japanese dace, and striped mullet.
