Yoshitomi Family Residence
The Yoshitomi Family Residence, built in 1790, is the oldest surviving iguraya-style house in Shiotatsu. The iguraya style is identified by hipped and gabled roofs covered with tiles. The building retains original elements, including sliding doors and window shutters, that show how it may have looked when it was first built. It now serves as a restaurant where visitors can enjoy a chanko nabe hot pot of meat and vegetables, a meal typically prepared for sumo wrestlers.
