公会堂Before/After
公会堂は、時期によってさまざまな用途に使われ、大きく４期に分類できます。
外観も色の変更だけでなく、建物の一部が撤去されるなど時代に合わせて変化してきましたが、建築当初の姿をよく残しており、長年大事に保存されてきました。

Past and present of the Old Public Hall
The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward has served a number of different functions since its construction in 1910. The usage of the Old Public Hall can be divided into four periods (see the tabs at lower right). While its coating of paint has changed, and some parts of the building have been dismantled, the Old Public Hall retains the essential form it has had for over a century. This reflects the wishes of the people of Hakodate that the Old Public Hall be preserved for future generations.
