（平成・令和修理）
平成になり、大地震によって国内の多くの文化財が被害を受けました。公会堂も建物の強度が不足していることがわかったため、平成30年(2018)から約2年半の保存修理にあわせて耐震補強を行いました。
今後も末永くこの建物を保存し、活用していきます。

Restoration in the Heisei and Reiwa eras
During the Heisei era (1989–2019), many of Japan’s cultural properties were damaged by powerful earthquakes. The structural integrity of the Old Public Hall was found to be inadequate, and a seismic reinforcement project was implemented over a period of two and a half years beginning in 2018 (Last restorations (2018-2021)). The project will ensure that this Hakodate icon continues to stand for many years to come.
