サシバの渡り
サシバ（Grey-Faced Buzzard）は、灰色の頭に由来して名付けられました。体の部分の羽は色が異なり、茶色です。この中型の狩りをして餌をとる鳥はアジア原産で、知られている限りでは猛禽類の中で唯一海を渡る種です。翼長が最大46cmにもなるサシバが、毎年９月下旬から10月上旬にかけて神島に渡来するときの姿は壮観です。

Sashiba Migration
The sashiba, or gray-faced buzzard, is named for the color of its head, which contrasts with its brown body plumage. This medium-sized bird of prey is native to Asia, and is the only species of raptor known to migrate over oceans. With wingspans that stretch up to 46 cm, the birds are a majestic sight as they arrive in Kamishima every year from late September to early October.
