真恒（太刀）
「真恒」は、久能山東照宮に初めて寄進された刀である。初代徳川将軍の家康公が亡くなった翌年、その息子である秀忠公（1579-1632）が、久能山東照宮の竣工に合わせて奉納したものである。
この刀は優れた品質のものである。12世紀に、刀鍛冶の名産地である備前地方（現在の岡山県）で作られたものである。現存する最古の備前の刀工集団によるものと考えられている。100cm近くあるのでかなり長く、戦闘用ではなかったようだ。鎌倉時代（1192-1333）の刀の特徴である厚くて重い刃を持ち、バランスが良い。
例年、約1ヶ月間展示されている。

Sanetsune (Tachi Sword)
“Sanetsune” was the first sword donated to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. One year after the death of Tokugawa Ieyasu (1542–1616), his son and successor to the Tokugawa shogunate Hidetada (1579–1632) dedicated the sword to Kunozan Toshogu on the completion of the shrine’s construction.
The sword is of outstanding quality. The blade was made in the twelfth century in the Bizen area (now Okayama Prefecture), which was renowned for its sword smithing. It is thought to have been made by the oldest extant group of swordsmiths in Bizen. At over 110 centimeters, it is quite long. Its thick, heavy blade is characteristic of swords made during the final years of the Heian period (794–1192). It is well balanced but thought not to have been made for use in combat.
