Illustrated Miracles of the Kasuga Deity, Volume 19 Scene 2

Here the story returns to a scene of tranquility, in stark contrast to the violence of the prior battle. A rainbow appears over a small Buddhist hall in Tokiwa in what is now northwestern Nara Prefecture. Curious passersby gather around the hall. Inside, they discover a bag hanging over the altar and open it to find three more of the sacred mirrors. A note attached to the bag claims the mirrors were stolen by Masayasu no Kaja of Ryofukuji Temple. The passersby take the bag of mirrors and set out to entrust them to the monks at Konshoji Temple.
