1. Basic policies

The Japan Tourism Agency collects information from the users using this website within the scope required for operating smooth service to be provided in the Portal Website for Private Lodging (hereinafter referred to as "this website"). Collected information will be handled within the scope of the purpose of use.

2. Scope of information collected

  • (1)This website collects information on Internet domain names, IP addresses, access status, and other information in the form of access logs.
  • (2)Some of the pages in this site use cookies. Cookies refer to information about a user, sent by a web server to the user’s browser for the site operator to distinguish the user’s computer from others’, and accumulated in the user’s computer. Using cookies, the site operator can collect information on the number of visits from the user’s computer, the pages visited, and so forth. The JTA, however, does not use cookies to collect any information that allows it to identify individual users. The browser can be set so that the functions of cookies are nullified. Nullifying the functions of cookies does not affect the ability to use this website.

3. Purpose of use

  • The information collected in Items 2-(1) and 2-(2) will be used to provide optimal services on this site.

4. Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to assess site usage. Google Analytics collects information about users by means of cookies. For the Google Analytics terms of service and privacy policy, please see the Google Analytics website. The JTA bears no responsibility for any damage resulting from use of the Google Analytics service.

5. Restrictions on the use and provision of information

The JTA will not use the collected information for purposes other than those specified in Paragraph 3, nor provide it to third parties, unless information disclosure is required by laws or ordinances, violations such as unauthorized access or threats are detected, or other special reasons exist. However, statistically processed information on accesses to this site, user information, and so forth may be published.

6. Security measures

Measures required for preventing collected information from leakage, loss or damage and for proper management of information will be taken.

7. Scope of application

This privacy policy applies only to this website. The handling of information on the websites of other ministries and agencies is the responsibility of the respective organizations.

8. Other

The JTA may revise its privacy policy from time to time. All future revisions will be announced on this website.

Information disclosed on this website (hereinafter referred to as "contents") can be used freely, such as for copying, transmitting to the public, translating or to modifying by anyone, in accordance with the following 1) to 7). Commercial use is also available and numerical data, simple charts and graphs are not subject to copyrights, so they can be used freely without the terms of use being applied.
The user shall be deemed as having agreed to the rules of the terms of use upon use of the contents.

1) Source citation

a. The user must cite the source when using the Content. Sources should be cited in the following manner:

2) No infringement of third party rights

a. In some cases, a third party (refers to a party other than the state. Hereinafter referred to as “Third Party”) may hold copyrights or other rights to a part of the Content. For Content where a Third Party holds copyrights or other rights (e.g. portrait rights in a photograph, publicity rights, etc.), it is the responsibility of the user to obtain consent for use from the Third Party unless there is explicit indication that the rights have already been cleared.

b. If a Third Party holds rights to a part of the Content, said fact may be directly or indirectly stated or indicated through source citations, but in some cases the part of the Content to which the Third Party holds the rights may not be clear or may not be explicitly stated. It is the responsibility of the user to confirm the rights pertaining to use of the Content.

c. The user must comply with the terms and conditions of the source provider for Content obtained through API (Application Programming Interface) links to external databases, etc.

4) Contents where the rules of the terms of use do not apply

The following contents are not applicable for the rules of the terms of use.

b. Contents that state application of another terms of use with specific and reasonable ground explanation

5)Governing law and jurisdiction

a. The Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.

b. In case of disputes relating to the use of the Content based on the Terms of Use, or the Terms of Use, the user agrees that the exclusive court of first instance shall be the district court with jurisdiction in the place where the organization that has published the disputed Content or Terms of Use is located.

6) Disclaimer

a. The state bears absolutely no responsibility for any action taken by the user involving the use of the Content (including use of information based on edited Content).

b. The Content may be modified, moved or deleted without prior notice.

7) Other

a. The Terms of Use does not limit those types of uses for which, under Copyright Act of Japan, license from the right holders are not required.

b. The Terms of Use was established on February 28, 2018. The Terms of Use is based on the Government of Japan Standard Terms and Conditions (Version 2.0). If you have already used the Content according to the previous version of the Government Standard Terms of Service, the conditions will continue to apply.

c. The rules of the terms of use is compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (terms for use of the copyrights set forth in https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.ja. Hereinafter referred to as "CC BY") and the contents where the rules of the terms of use are applicable can be used in accordance with CC BY.
