Oxcart Storage Remains, Kanjizaioin Temple
The wide space between the eastern end of Motsuji Temple and the western side of the Kanjizaioin Temple remains once served as a parking area for the carts and wagons of high-ranking temple visitors. Research and excavations have discovered that this wide space used to be paved with stones.
Visitors to Kanjizaioin Temple would leave their carts, oxen, and horses here before entering the temple. The ruins of this designated parking area indicate that many upper-class visitors to Kanjizaioin Temple used oxcarts for transportation.
