Aquatic Life in Urabandai

The majority of the 300 lakes and ponds formed in Urabandai during the 1888 eruption support aquatic biodiversity, including fish such as smelt, dace and minnow, insects like the predacious diving beetle (Dytiscidae), and the Bandai clawed salamander (Onychodactylus intermedius).
