Wadakura Fountain Park
Wadakura Fountain Park commemorates two royal weddings. It was built in 1961 for the marriage of Heisei Emperor Emeritus (r. 1989–2019), the abdicated former Emperor and was renovated in 1995 for the marriage of the Emperor (r. 2019–).
Renowned landscape architect Tamura Tsuyoshi designed the original fountain park. He created the trio of fountains to look like a chrysanthemum—the flower of the Imperial crest—and its buds. These fountains are illuminated with a champagne-gold color in the evening.
The park is also home to Wadakurabashi Bridge, an original wooden bridge.
