双岳台
概要
双岳台は、弟子屈町に向かう国道241号線沿い、標高740メートルにある展望台です。阿寒湖畔エコミュージアムセンターから、車で約20分です。双岳台とは、「ふたつの山の展望台」からは、前方に雄阿寒岳、左側後方に雌阿寒岳という、2つの山を眺望できます。展望台の下方には、広大な深い森が広がっています。
ここから見える雄阿寒岳と雌阿寒岳は、まるで寄り添う夫と妻（夫婦）のようです。
双岳台は、エゾマツとダケカンバに囲まれています。
全景を見られる最高の時期は、木の葉が少ない秋冬（10月～3月頃）です。
Sogakudai Observatory
Overview
The Sogakudai Observatory is about twenty minutes by car from the Akankohan Eco Museum Center on National Highway Route 241, the road leading to the town of Teshikaga. At an altitude of 740 m along, Sogakudai means “two mountains observatory” and offers views of both Mt. Oakan (in front) and Mt. Meakan (behind and to the left). There is thick forest below the observatory.
From the observatory, Mt. Oakan and Mt. Meakan resemble a couple, standing side by side as husband and wife, which is the origin of their names in Japanese.
Sogakudai is surrounded by a forest of Yezo spruce and Erman’s birch. The view is particularly good in autumn and winter (approximately October to March) when the foliage is less dense.
