この質素な礼拝堂は、1950年頃に米国人宣教師ケネス・ヴァイアル司教により建てられました。床が高いのは、森の湿気から建物を守るためです。司教は夏から秋にかけてここで礼拝を行っていました。1961年には、米国駐日大使エドウィン・ライシャワーが夫人を伴い訪れています。

An American missionary, Bishop Kenneth Viall, built this modest chapel around 1950. A raised floor protects it from the humidity of the forest. Bishop Viall used to visit for services throughout the summer and autumn months. In 1961, Edwin Reischauer, the US ambassador to Japan, visited the chapel with his wife.
