十和田湖
十和田湖の冬は極めて寒く、気温が－20℃まで下がることも珍しくありません。しかし水が深いので、湖面に氷が張ることは滅多にありません。深い所で水深327メートルにまで達するので、凍り付くまで水温が下がらないのです。

Lake Towada
Winters at Lake Towada are extremely cold, with temperatures regularly dropping as low as -20°C (5°F). However, the lake almost never freezes over. Its great depth—which measures up to 327 meters—prevents the water temperature from getting low enough to freeze.
