このように大山のブナ林には、日本海側ブナ林と太平洋側ブナ林の両方の特徴を持った構成が見られます。

Beech Forest in the Foothills of Mount Daisen

Mount Daisen boasts one of the largest beech forests in western Japan, and is also home to Mongolian oaks (Quercus crispula) and painted maple trees (Acer pictum subsp. mono), as well as shrubs like lindera (Lindera umbellata), redvein maple (Acer rufinerve), scarlet leaved viburnum (Viburnum furcatum), daphniphyllum (Daphniphyllum macropodum subsp. humile) , and hydrangeas (Hydrangea serrata var yesoensis). This species composition is unique in combining the characteristics of beech forests found on the Pacific Ocean with those of the Sea of Japan.
