八幡祭
村では、家の壁や船などに描かれた、丸の中に一対の斜線が入っているような紋がよく見られます。この紋は、数字の八の字が円で囲まれたもので、島の漁民たちが信仰する神、八幡の名前に由来します。この紋は住民を海での危険から守り、豊穣を授けてくれると信じられています。紋は、毎年一月に行われる島の恒例の八幡祭の期間中に、同じところに描きなおされます。
