昭和の町 昭和の町展示館
豊後高田市の「昭和の町 展示館」はかつて銀行として使われていた古い建物内に設置されている展示スペースです。ちょっとした記録保管所としての役目を果たしており、地元の人たちから寄贈されたさまざまな昭和時代 (1945-1989) の品物を展示しています。
展示品にはノスタルジックな古い映画 (邦画と洋画の両方) のポスターや年代物の映画館のイスなどがあり、来館者はそのイスに座りながら昭和の暮らしを撮影したクリップ映像を見ることができます。東芝、ナショナル/パナソニック、カシオ、日立など、なじみ深いブランド製のレトロな電子機器や電化製品のコレクションも展示されています。昭和期に人々の生活を向上させたと考えられている「三種の神器」がテレビ、冷蔵庫、洗濯機だった、という興味深い知識も得られます。
展示館では昭和風の衣装のレンタルも行っているので、来館者はテーマに沿った服を着ながら町中を歩くことができます。雰囲気のぴったりなおすすめ写真スポットも知ることができます。
Showa no Machi: Tenjikan (exhibition hall)
The Tenjikan is an exhibition space housed inside a former bank building in Bungotakada’s Showa no Machi. It is an archive of sorts and showcases a variety of items from the Showa era (1926–1989) that were donated by local residents.
Items on display include nostalgic movie posters from both Japanese and English films, as well as vintage cinema seating to use while watching film clips of daily life during the Showa era. An array of vintage electronics and appliances are also on display, including familiar brands like Toshiba, National/Panasonic, Casio, and Hitachi. They tell the story of the top three “must-have” items that people desired during the 1950s and 1960s: a television, a refrigerator, and a washing machine.
Showa-style clothing is available for rent at the Tenjikan and can be worn while walking around town. Recommendations of suitably atmospheric photo spots are also available.
