釜蓋神社
南九州市の釜蓋神社には、芸能人やアスリートが多く訪れ幸運を祈っています。この神社には釜の蓋という珍しいテーマがあります。地元の伝説によると、頭の上に釜の蓋を乗せてバランスを取りながら、鳥居から拝殿まで落とさず歩くことができれば、願い事が叶うそうです。参拝者は、小さな粘土の蓋を海にある釜に投げ込むこともできます。うまく蓋を釜に投げ入れることができたら、神様が願いを叶えてくれるかもしれません。
神社のすぐ隣には「希望の岬」と呼ばれる見晴らしの良い場所があります。開けた海と遠くの開聞岳を一望できるこの場所では、日本の釜の蓋の形をしたベンチに座って景色を楽しむことができます。
Kamafuta Shrine
Entertainers and athletes flock to Kamafuta Shrine in the city of Minamikyushu to pray for good luck in their endeavors. The shrine has an unusual theme: pot lids (kamafuta). According to local legend, if a visitor can balance a pot lid on his or her head and walk from the torii gate at the entrance to the worship hall without dropping it, their wish will be granted. Shrine visitors can also throw small clay lids into a pot out at sea. It’s said that the gods will grant the prayers of those who manage to get the lid into the pot.
Right next to the shrine there is a spectacular vantage point called the “Cape of Hope.” Overlooking the open sea and Mt. Kaimon in the distance, it is a relaxing place to enjoy the view while sitting on a bench shaped like a Japanese pot lid.
