Statue of the Bodhisattva Kokuzo

Important Cultural Property

Kokuzo is a bodhisattva associated with the sky in Buddhist mythology. The name roughly translates to Receptacle of the Void, and he is paired with the bodhisattva Jizo (Receptacle of the Earth), the savior of sentient beings and guardian of children and travelers. Dating to the Asuka period (552–645), this statue was originally carved as a Kannon bodhisattva. It stands on a three-tiered lotus flower and features detailed carvings in its drapery.

虚空蔵菩薩は、無尽蔵の智慧と福徳を授ける菩薩である。飛鳥時代につくられたこの虚空蔵菩薩像は、当初は観音菩薩として造られたとかんがえられている。３段になった蓮の花の台座に立ち、顔の表情は精緻に表現されており、衣のひだは細かい彫りで表現されている。

虛空藏菩薩是授予無窮智慧和福德的菩薩。飛鳥時代（西元552－645）製作的這尊虛空藏菩薩像，推測當初應是雕刻成觀音菩薩。祂站立於3層的蓮花底座上，呈現十分精緻的臉部表情，衣服上的皺褶雕工細密。

허공장보살상

허공장보살은 무한한 지혜와 복덕을 베푸는 보살입니다. 아스카 시대에 만들어진 이 허공장보살상은 처음에는 관음보살상으로 제작되었던 것으로 추정됩니다. 3단으로 된 연꽃 대좌에 서 있는 모습으로 표현되어 있으며 얼굴의 표정은 정교하고 옷의 주름은 세밀하게 조각되어 있습니다.
